Aerovent Helps Alliant Energy Power Up
Alliant Energy is in the process of implementing a new reliable power supply to its customers. This comprehensive energy plan includes the addition of natural gas and coal plants. It also calls for more renewable energy, transmission enhancements, and a continued strong emphasis on energy efficiency.
An important element to this plan is the addition of approximately 500 megawatts of natural gas-fired generation.
This facility consists of 2 GE7FA Dual Fuel (natural gas and #2 fuel oil) combustion turbines. It also includes 2 Alstom heat recovery steam generators and 1 GE D11 steam turbine generator configured to operate in eithercombined cycle or simple cycle.
Aerovent shipped thirty-nine fans to the combined-cycle plant. The order consisted of thirty-four 84W736-VWBD-384-25 Special Belt Driven Type W Vaneaxial Upblast Roof Ventilators. These special upblast roof ventilators included sound roof curbs, extended curb base with plenum section, access door, motorized center-pivoted dampers, safety guard, and automatic stack cap. The fans also featured a special hinged access door that provides for belt access and inspection.
The Aerovent fans are a critical component to the successful and reliable generation of electricity throughout the United States. Without Aerovent’s Heavy Duty Industrial Exhaust Fans, the heat build-up within the plant would continue to rise to a point where key electrical components would fail and shut down the facility.
